What They Do
Civil engineers are primarily responsible for designing infrastructure. That can include creating drawings, digital modeling, or even making a miniature replica of their project. It is also possible that they will be responsible for supervising the construction of their project.
Where They Work
Because they have varying duties, they will work in many different locations and conditions. For example, many engineers spend part of their time in the office designing projects and some of their time on construction sites ensuring everything is going according to plan. So while you won't spend all your time in an office, you will still be working full time.
Education and Training
You'll need a bachelor's degree in civil engineering to work as a standard engineer. You'll need to get a graduate degree if you want to work as a supervisor or in a higher position. Anyone who works for a company that provides services to the public will also need a license in their state.

This job typically pays a salary somewhere near $80,000. But, of course, you could make more or less depending on your location and what you do.
