Monitoring Survey
A monitoring survey shows the relative location of structures, walls, landmasses and any other objects that may move horizontally or vertically. The surveyors use a fixed point that can be called Control Points or Benchmarks. This survey helps determine how a foundation, easement or other improvement moves with the expansion of the soil. You have to get this survey done during the course of construction.
Route Survey
A route survey is a combination of topographic, boundary and utility surveys. It’s used when you want to put in a new road through a pre-existing property. There are also surveys for partitioning that have to be done in these cases.
As-Built Surveys
This type of survey defines post construction improvements. If there was a change to the building plan or an addition made afterwards, as-built surveys are required to show what was finally built. An as-built survey can be done on roadways, schools, shopping centers, sub-divisions, factories, landfills, sanitary sewer collection systems, storm drain collection systems and site grading.
Boundary Survey
Professional land surveyors also have to do boundary services. This just means that a survey is done that will re-establish property lines and corners for small or large properties. With a boundary service you also get a map of the property, so you know what the property lines are in the future.
